The explosion in popularity of Tesla vehicles has taken the automotive industry by storm. Tesla’s journey began with the Roadster, launched in 2008. The Roadster was a game-changer, demonstrating that electric vehicles could be fast, stylish, and desirable. Based on the Lotus Elise chassis, it featured a lithium-ion battery pack, which provided a range of over 200 miles per charge—unprecedented at the time for an electric vehicle. The Roadster’s impressive performance and range laid the foundation for Tesla’s future successes.

Model Y – Gloss to Satin Conversion
The Tesla Model Y has quickly become one of the most popular electric vehicles on the road and this particular example was the perfect candidate for a full Satin PPF conversion.
Finished in Gloss Black, this Model Y arrived at Prestige PPF with a clean and modern look. While the original paint already looked fantastic, the owner wanted something a little more unique whilst still keeping the vehicle looking sleek and understated.
After discussing a few different options, the owner decided to convert the original Gloss Black paint into a Satin finish using paint protection film.
This is one of our favourite types of transformations because it completely changes the overall feel of the vehicle without the need for repainting or permanent alterations. Using Satin PPF, we were able to soften the Gloss Black finish and create a much more subtle and stealthy appearance.
The Satin finish worked perfectly with the smooth lines and minimalist styling of the Model Y. The softer finish gave the vehicle a much more premium feel whilst still allowing the sharp body lines and contours to stand out.
One of the biggest advantages of Satin PPF is that it does much more than simply change the appearance of the vehicle. Whilst the visual transformation is impressive, the film also protects the original paint from stone chips, light scratches, road debris and other everyday damage.
This is especially important for a vehicle like the Model Y which is often used for daily driving, motorway journeys and family use. Over time, all of these things can quickly affect the condition of the paint if left unprotected.
Unlike repainting, Satin PPF is completely reversible. This means the owner can enjoy the Satin finish for years to come whilst knowing the original Gloss Black paint remains untouched beneath the film.
To complete the look, we also tinted the windows to give the vehicle an even more aggressive and refined appearance.
As you can see from the finished installation, this Gloss Black Tesla Model Y now has the perfect combination of protection, style and subtle presence.
