Paint Protection Film: Lotus Emira
The Lotus brand with its rich history and well earned reputation within the automotive industry, has been a fan favourite throughout its time. Producing British icons such as the Elise has placed Lotus into the hearts of driving enthusiasts and the aim of their newest release, the stunning Emira, is to achieve the same result.
Arriving at our London studio hours after leaving the dealership, the owner of this Emira understood the importance of protecting the beautiful ‘Vivid Red’ paintwork and doing so in a timely manner. He wanted to take full advantage of the fact that the vehicle was in pristine condition, with barely a few miles on the odometer, and freeze this current condition for years to come with the power of PPF.
Before embarking on the installation process, thorough preparation is key. The Lotus Emira’s surface must be impeccably clean and free of any contaminants that could interfere with adhesion. This involves a meticulous wash, followed by surface decontamination to remove any traces of dirt, wax, or grease.
Each piece of PPF is custom-cut to fit the specific contours of the Lotus Emira’s body panels. This requires precision and expertise to ensure seamless coverage without any gaps or overlaps. Advanced cutting techniques, aided by computer software, manufacturer templates and custom patterns are employed to achieve an exact fit.
With the PPF cut to size, it’s time for the intricate process of application. Skilled technicians carefully position the film onto the Emira’s surface, gradually smoothing out any air bubbles or wrinkles to achieve a flawless finish. The use of specialised tools, such as squeegees and heat guns, aids in the stretching and moulding of the film around curves and edges.
Once the PPF is securely in place, attention turns to the finishing touches. Any excess film is trimmed away, and the edges are meticulously tucked and sealed to ensure a seamless integration with the car’s bodywork. A final inspection is conducted to ensure the PPF is free of imperfections and properly adhered to the surface.

Paint Protection Film: Lotus Eletre 2023
Arriving at Prestige PPF Hounslow in Gloss Kaimu Grey from the Lotus factory, this Lotus owner wanted to apply paint protection film as soon as possible to protect his car’s paint.
The owner requested a complete protection package, including external and internal protection, finished off with a protective coating. The process started with an expert detail to prepare the vehicle for film application.
Our task was to perform a gloss to satin conversion, using Xpel Stealth high quality films. Xpel Stealth allows you to completely transform the look of your vehicle from a shiny gloss to a refined matte or satin finish. Although many PPF films are clear, there are also coloured films available.
After the Xpel Stealth was applied, our skilled team began protecting the interior of this gorgeous Lotus Eletre. Interior PPF is a fantastic way of protecting your high contact interior surfaces and preventing the normal wear and tear that often occurs over time. Interior PPF will keep those surfaces free from damage and easier to clean should an accident happen. Interior console protection is a proven way to avoid unsightly fingerprint marks.
To complete the protection package, Prestige protected the exterior of the vehicle with Xpel Fusion Plus ceramic coating. Ceramic coating is a trusted method of protecting your vehicle paint even further and by using Xpel Fusion Plus, we can guarantee a good result.
Having Paint Problems With Your Lotus?
There have been numerous reports of paint issues with new & older Lotus vehicles from the Emira to the Exige, Elise, Evora & others.
For newer vehicles, there have been numerous reports of paint bubbling, especially on the Emira. According to a poll on the Emira forum, just over 30% of owners reported a bubbling defect on their car.
Other Lotus owners have reported paint falling off the car such as on Piston Heads where members discuss in depth the range on paint issues they are facing.
So if you own a Lotus, it would be worth considering paint protection to prevent many of the paint issues and defects that owners are talking about online.
