Get ready for new car registrations for September 2024

If you are purchasing a new registration vehicle this September, think about how you will maintain your new car. Protecting the paint on your new car ensures your vehicle maintains its showroom shine and helps minimise damage caused by everyday wear & tear.

Whether you aim to blast your car around the track, use your car as a daily driver or park your pride & joy in the garage, the paintwork will inevitably suffer some damage.

That’s why vehicle enthusiasts to everyday drivers have their new cars wrapped with PPF film to preserve the paintwork and increase the longevity of that new car look and feel.

Why Paint Protect a New Car

Preserve Showroom Finish

Your new car will be under attack as soon as you leave the dealership forecourt. Stones, tar, birds and even careless drivers are targeting you as soon as you hit the road.

Protecting the paint on your new car as soon as possible will help you maintain that glossy or glass look to your paint finish, devoid of any swirl marks, tar, chips or etching.

PPF Film can even be applied to the interior of the vehicle to prevent damage and wear to high touch surfaces and areas prone to damage from everyday use.

Prevent Damage

Once your car is Paint Protected, you will now be able to fend off accidental, environmental and other damage caused by wear. For example, there will be a reduced likelihood of getting stone chips, minor scrapes, bird dropping stains and accumulation of environmental fallout like dust, iron, tar or acid rain.

Over time this preserves the finish of your paintwork slowing down the damage caused by time and usage of the vehicle.

Reduce Maintenance

Now you have your new car which has been wrapped in protective film, you can enjoy more time with your car as there will be reduced maintenance required such as washing and polishing your car.

PPF film helps repel dust, water and fallout meaning fewer car washes are required to keep the car looking clean. This includes deep cleaning, polishing and waxing your car saving you time and money.

Increase Resale Value

An obvious benefit of maintaining the interior and exterior finish of your car is to increase the resale value of your  car. Not only can you command a higher price that looks in ‘mint condition’, but your vehicle is likely to sell faster if it even appears in good condition.

But wait, there are other important reasons to bring your car in for a PPF wrap. From the moment your car leaves the factory to driving off with a proud owner, the car’s paintwork would have already faced a number of challenges.

Why New Car Paint Have Defects

Transit Damage

It is highly likely that since your car left the factory, the paintwork has been subjected to a number of harsh conditions and potential mishaps on its journey. Cars transported by sea are prone to being sprayed by salt and when transported by road are still subjected to environmental fallout, stone chips and ingrained dirt.

Once the car arrives at the dealership, the car is then subjected to a busy environment with a number of potential mishaps like people brushing past the cars or minor bumps.

Incorrect Maintenance by Dealership

As a result of the transit damage, many vehicles arrive at the dealership requiring some sprucing up before being presented in the showroom or delivered to the customer.

Unfortunately dealerships not only lack the knowledge to correctly prepare and clean a vehicle but they are still motivated to cut costs, hence poor practices and shortcuts often put the car’s paint on a path to deterioration.

An example is when I once went to pick up a new car, and because the car had been sitting outside gathering dust they decided to wash it in their automatic car wash. The result was disappointing as the car was presented with swirl marks all over the car. (We don’t have to remind you that automatic car washes are terrible for your paintwork).

Following on from the point above, your vehicle is subjected to wear when at the dealer and as the dealer attempts to maintain the look of the vehicle, they unwittingly add further damage to the paint.

How We Fix These Problems

Before applying protection products to your new vehicle, your paintwork goes through a number of required and optional steps.

  • Clean & decontaminate paintwork with a chemical treatment and claybar application
  • Inspect for defects from scratches, chips, dents, swirling and any remaining fallout embedded in the paint. Defects can be fixed at customers request.
  • A stage 1 paint correction can be applied to enhance the current finish providing a mirror shine and prep the paintwork for film application.
  • Some customers opt to top off the PPF film with a ceramic coating for further protection and reduced maintenance.
