BMW M3 Touring Gloss to Satin Conversion

Todays clients required satin paint protection for their brand new M3 Touring, fresh from the dealership. As part of their work for F1, the car would be following the path of the F1 race calendar and therefore the owners wanted to fully protect the paint for its travels.

Begging with a pre-PPF detail, the vehicle is deep cleaned and then decontaminated with clay bar to remove any impurities from the paintwork. Although the vehicle is brand new, there can often be dirt and residue that has accumulated during factory or showroom storage.

To achieve the Satin to Gloss conversion, our expert installers used Xpel Stealth film which uses light distribution to alter the way the gloss paint is perceived. To finish, we installed custom company livery along the rear quarter.

PPF differs from vinyl by being a much stronger material, protecting the paint underneath but also utilising the self healing properties of the film.

Paint Protection Film: BMW Alpina B3 Touring 2024

Today we had a rare BMW Alpina B3 Touring arrive at our West London PPF studio.

Having picked up the vehicle fresh from the dealership, this owner knew exactly where his next destination was. He brought this luxury BMW to us for a complete paint protection package.

BMW vehicles are known for their vibrant vehicle paint but that doesn’t mean they aren’t susceptible to environmental damage. The owner wanted to preserve this Alpina Metallic Green paint in order for the colour to shine for as long as possible.

Paint protection film is the best way to achieve this and we obliged by installing Xpel Ultimate PPF onto the vehicle. Xpel Ultimate is a clear protectant film that does not alter the original car paint colour in any way, but still protects it from damage.

In addition, the owner chose to also protect the vehicle with Xpel Fusion Plus Ceramic Coating to make future washing and cleaning easier to manage and make the film last even longer.

The cherry on top of this package was the interior PPF applied to the internal high contact areas such as centre console and media screen.

M3 Touring Gloss Paint Protection

Paint Protection Film: BMW M3 Competition

We love to protect BMW vehicles here at Prestige and this M3 was no different. This highly regarded variant of BMW is a fan favourite and has remained a classic throughout the years. This is the latest model to arrive at our London garage.

The client had just purchased the car and was very keen to protect the vehicle paint. Originally painted in BMW Aventurine Red, this gorgeous colour just had to be protected by the very best in vehicle paint protection film.

Our process always begins with an inspection of the current condition of the vehicle paint, examining for any imperfections or issues that may need to be corrected prior to the PPF stage.

After the inspection, the vehicle is cleaned and decontaminated using the very latest in vehicle detailing technology. Once the vehicle is cleaned and in pristine condition, the PPF film installation can begin.

This BMW M3 was protected with our tier 2 PPF package which included maximum protective coverage and a seamless finish. We used Xpel Ultimate for an amazing gloss finish.

Additionally, the client requested interior film protection for the interior of the vehicle. We achieved this with the use of Xpel Fusion Plus ceramic coating to protect the high contact interior surfaces that are prone to wear and tear damage.

To complete the project, we installed custom front and rear carbon fibre splitters that look absolutely unreal.

Paint Protection Film: BMW M3 CS Competition

Every once in a while, a car rolls into our West London PPF studio and instantly attracts the attention of everyone in the room. Today that vehicle was the BMW M3 Competition Sport.

This new model is the epitome of a road legal race car and the owner had big plans of racking up the mileage, both on the road and the track. Seeing as how this beastly BMW would be spending most of its days, installing paint protection film is an absolute must. 

PPF installation on this vehicle would add significant protection against stone chips which are a common hazard on the road, as well as the track. Due to PPF’s shock absorbing properties, any impacts from small debris are spread out to reduce their strength and prevent permanent damage to the vehicle’s paint. 

The owner opted for Xpel Stealth film to protect this vehicle, which has magical transformative properties. The film changes the way that light is reflected from the vehicle and causes it to appear as a smooth Satin or Matte like finish. Using PPF to achieve this cosmetic effect is a cost effective method that has the additional benefits of protecting your paint. 

To complete the look, Prestige installed custom trim lines to accentuate the already beautiful shape of this model. 

Protection Film: BMW X5M Competition

Owned by a regular track day enthusiast, installing PPF on a beast of a vehicle such as this X5M is essential when you consider the size of the vehicle and how fast its likely to be driven.

The last thing the owner needs to worry about when out on the track is keeping his paint work safe and so he brought the vehicle to Prestige PPF for the ultimate protection package.

Starting with a comprehensive inspection, we identified areas of the vehicle that required stage 1 paint correction and removed the imperfections as a result. Once fully prepared, the protection films can be applied and cured correctly, thanks to our temperature controlled booths.

The final stage of the protection process involved the use of Xpel Fusion Plus ceramic coating to add a further layer defence and make general cleaning and maintenance that much easier.

The end result is a beautiful, yet protected track day beast.

As you can see, the difference between the Gloss and Satin paint is instantly visible. Repainting a vehicle in satin paint can very costly and is a permanent change. By choosing Satin PPF, you benefit from the cosmetic change as well as the many protective qualities of PPF. The cherry on the cake is the fact that should you every wish to go back to your original gloss paint, the PPF can be easily removed to reveal the pristine Gloss underneath. This means that there is no value lost due to multiple paint jobs.
