The Roadster was a game-changer, demonstrating that electric vehicles could be fast, stylish, and desirable. Based on the Lotus Elise chassis, it featured a lithium-ion battery pack, which provided a range of over 200 miles per charge—unprecedented at the time for an electric vehicle. The Roadster’s impressive performance and range laid the foundation for Tesla’s future successes.
