The 2025 Tesla Model Y Juniper is a significant refresh of Tesla’s best-selling electric SUV, introducing a range of exterior, interior, and performance upgrades compared to the previous Model Y (2020–2024). Join us as we breakdown all of the key differences and improvements.
New Features of the 2025 Model Y Juniper
Exterior Design
- Redesigned Front and Rear:
- Front: Features a full-width LED light bar with split headlights, inspired by the Cybertruck and Cybercab, replacing the older Model Y’s bulky headlights. The front bumper has sharper lines, taller side intakes, and a grille-less design for a bolder, futuristic look. The Tesla “T” logo is removed from the bonnet for a cleaner aesthetic.
- Rear: Introduces a full width “indirect reflective body panel taillight” with a diffused LED strip, creating a unique “afterburner” effect. The Tesla logo is now block lettered, and the license plate is moved to the bumper for a smoother tailgate design. A more prominent rear diffuser and ducktail spoiler add a more aggressive aesthetic.

- Aerodynamic Improvements: An improved drag coefficient due to revised bumpers, lower rolling resistance tires, and new wheel designs. The vehicle is also 41 mm longer.
- New Paint Options: Includes “Glacier Blue” and “Deep Blue,” with possible additions like Ultra Red and Stealth Grey from the Model 3 Highland.

Interior Upgrades
- Enhanced Cabin Quality:
- Materials: Softer, higher-quality upholstery and a redesigned dashboard with aluminium detailing and felt lined door pockets to reduce noise.
- Soundproofing: Acoustic glass, noise optimised tyres, and a new gigacasting method make the cabin quieter.
- Touchscreens:
- Front: Retains the 15.4-inch touchscreen with thinner bezels, running second generation connectivity hardware. New features include Live Weather tracking, detour time estimates, and charging suggestions.
- Rear: Adds an 8-inch touchscreen for rear passengers, offering climate control, media, and Tesla Arcade games.
- Seating:
- Ventilated front seats and power-reclining, electrically folding rear seats improve comfort and cargo flexibility. The rear seat base is longer for better thigh support.
- Optional seven-seat configuration remains.
- Ambient Lighting: Customisable wrap around lighting across the dashboard and doors, integrated to avoid windscreen reflections.
Other Features: Magnetic glovebox lock and a magnetic load bay cover for the boot. The gear selector is now a touchscreen slider, but the indicator stalk is retained, unlike the Model 3 Highland’s button.

Technology and Safety
- Driver Assistance: The Launch Series includes Full Self-Driving (Supervised), enabling hands-free driving with monitoring.
- New Cameras: A self cleaning front camera with a heater, plus a front facing camera for improved visibility. Blind spot indicators are now single pixel lights in the window corners.
- Audio: Long Range AWD upgrades to a 15-speaker system, from 13, while RWD downgrades to 9 speakers from 13 again. Invisible speakers enhance the premium audio experience.
- Connectivity: Ultra wideband technology improves phone key reliability. The keycard now initialises on the wireless charger, not the armrest.
Practicality
- Cargo Space: Boot capacity is slightly reduced to 2138 litres ,from 2158 litres, due to electrically folding seats, but a flat cargo area and redesigned trunk with drain plugs improve utility.
- Towing: Rated for 1,588 kg braked, down 12 kg and 750 kg unbraked, sufficient for small trailers. Payload is 511 kg ,down from 539 kg.
Hands-Free Boot: A powered tailgate is now standard.
